My family loves soft-boiled eggs for breakfast, but our old soft-boiled egg cutter (the round kind with teeth) was never easy to use or consistent and often left bits of eggshell around. It was starting to get old and dull, so instead of replacing with a similar version, I tried this one instead. My one and only complaint is that this set doesn’t come with instructions. I had watched the video in the listing, but otherwise, I think I would have been very confused.I punched the end of half the eggs with the little needle thing and left half alone. I steamed them in my little egg steamer (which I use all the time and love), then the whole family took turns using the egg cracker to open our eggs. It’s ridiculous that it works (how? is there suction? it doesn’t *seem* like there’s suction… is it just the vibration? is it magic?), but it does, and I love how cleanly the top pops off the eggs! We found it did work a little easier with the eggs that I had punctured, but it wasn’t absolutely necessary. Each of us was a bit tentative at first, then became more aggressive, popping our eggs firmly 2-3 times, then lifting the tops cleanly off.The egg cups are cute, but were a little large for our “large” eggs. Worked fine, but definitely a bit more “jumbo” sized. The little spoons are basic, but the right size. I added them to the collection of espresso spoons we use for our soft-boiled eggs.Overall completely pleased with this set — and planning to get another as a holiday gift for a relative.
